Valerie Partch, DVM

Practice Owner, Veterinarian

Dr. Valerie Partch is a 2013 graduate of the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine. She and her husband Martin are long term Smithville residents whom both graduated from Smithville High School. They have 3 children (Raegan, Kennedy, and McKinley) along with several pets including horses, goats, dogs, cats, chickens, and parakeets. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family, horseback riding, and outdoor activities. Jackson Animal Clinic has always been her family veterinarian growing up from childhood. Dr. Jackson was her mentor ever since she decided to pursue veterinary medicine in 2007. She is excited to build upon the legacy Dr. Jackson created.

Kari Irvin, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Kari Irvin is a 2007 graduate of Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She joined the practice immediately after graduating. Dr. Irvin and her husband Patrick have 2 children. They also have dogs and horses. In her spare time Dr. Irvin enjoys reading, horseback riding, and spending time with her family.

Twyla Reid, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Twyla Reid is a 2019 graduate of the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine. Born and raised in southeast Illinois, Dr. Reid grew up riding horses and competing in rodeo. She started her undergraduate degree at South Dakota State University in Brookings while competing on the rodeo team in barrels, breakaway roping, goat tying, and team roping. She transferred to Missouri Valley College in Marshall, Missouri to finish our her undergraduate degree and college rodeo career. While in veterinary school, Dr. Reid was active with Mule Club, Raptor Rehab Project, Foal Team, and Equine ICU. In her spare time she enjoys performing agility with her Pomeranian, Winston, working with horses, and riding bikes.

Gary Voetberg, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Gary Voetberg graduated from the University of Missouri with his DVM degree in 1997. He lives with Esther, their 2 dogs, 2 cats, and a bunch of Koi fish in their pond in the yard. His two daughters have more unconventional pets, who live with him for now even though the girls themselves have flown from the nest. In his free time he enjoys hiking, sports, and music.

Melanie Lehmann

Veterinary Technician/Nurse

Melanie has been with the clinic since 1993. She started as a kennel tech and worked her way up the veterinary ladder. She graduated with honors from the school of hard knocks. She has had the pleasure of owning all sorts of critters including snakes, birds, dogs, cats, rodents and horses. In her lifelong career she has celebrated and mourned many fur kids that she has had the opportunity to help and care for. In her spare time she enjoys running with her dogs and enjoying the outdoors.

Lisa Schelinski, RVT

Veterinary Technician/Nurse

Lisa is originally from a suburb of Chicago, IL. Her adventures have taken her to many different places. Lisa has explored a diverse array of professions before pursuing her career in animal care. She graduated with an associate of science and obtained her degree as a Credentialed Veterinary Technician. She had been working in the veterinary field for 15 years. She enjoys gardening, motorcycle rides and of course she and her husband love spending time with their many furry family members.

Kayla Hendrix, RVT

Kayla has lived in Platte City since 2008, she just recently moved to Kansas City. She graduated in May of 2018 from MCC Veterinary Technology Program and earned her license as a RVT in August 2018. She has been working at the clinic since 2017. In her free time she enjoys painting, going fishing and hanging out with her husband. She enjoys taking pictures of the outdoors, and has recently gotten into doing photo shoots with couple/kids.

Cora was raised in Paradise, Missouri along with her 5 siblings of which she is the youngest. She is an alumni of the Smithville FFA Chapter and the Platte County 4-H club. Cora graduated from Smithville High School in 2014, Metropolitan Community College in 2016, and is currently enrolled in the accredited online Veterinary Technology Program through Penn Foster. She has worked in the veterinary field since she was 15 years old, working with both companion and large animals. She enjoys working on large animals, especially horses. Cora is no stranger to the equine world, she has competed in rodeos, NBHA races, and has a small side business giving horseback riding lessons. Cora’s companions include a Quarter horse name Roscoe Meyer and a blue heeler name Cinch. She has been with Jackson Animal Clinic since June of 2018.

Hannah Anderson

Veterinary Assistant

Hannah started at Jackson Animal Clinic in 2015. She has worked in kennels, Reception, and now as a vet assistant. She plans to continue school and become a Registered Vet Tech. Hannah has been married since July 2021. Together she and her husband have 3 pets, a dog named Cricket, a cat named Jett and a Bearded Dragon named Tad Cooper. In her free time Hannah enjoys watching movies and dog park dates with her husband as well as their pets. She also spends time with family, friends and her church. Her hobbies include crocheting, painting, reality tv and crime dramas.

Karen McDonald

Receptionist

Karen was born and raised in the Platte City area and continued living there until moving to Weston after marrying her husband Gary. She has two daughters, a son and one grandson, as well as her own furry family members. She has had her own plethora of animals through the years including dogs, cats, birds, guinea pigs, hamsters, chickens and chinchillas. In her spare time she loves scrap-booking, gardening, fishing and the outdoors but most of all spending time with her family. She has been with the clinic since 1995 and loves being part of the office team.

Linda Taylor

Linda is originally from Nebraska-“Huge Husker Fan”! She has lived in Platte City since 1980, before moving here she had lived in 8 different states from the pacific to the atlantic and the hills of West Virginia. She has 3 children and many of her own fur babies. Linda loves reading, gardening and baking- and we love that she loves to bake because she shares all of her goodies with us.

Ami moved to Platte City over 15 years ago from Salt Lake City, Utah. She has been married over 35 years and has 3 sons, 1 daughter and 1 granddaughter named Olivia that is 20 months old. In her free time she enjoys walking and spending time with her family.

Shelby Anderson

Shelby has been grooming for 9 years. She has a Shih Tzu mix, Callie, who is 11 years old. She has has 2 cats, Latte and Loki. Latte is 7 months old and Loki is 9 months old, both adopted shortly after starting work with Jackson Animal Clinic. She enjoys going on walks with her dog and relaxing at home.

Melodee has lived in Platte City all her life. She graduated from Platte County High School in 2021. She started working at the clinic in April of 2019. She is currently in the Vet Tech program through Penn Foster. She has a cat named Pumpkin and a corgi named Bentley that take up her free time. She loves to spend her time hanging out with friends, her mom and her animals. She also loves listening to music.

Makayla Wardlow

Makayla grew up in Weston, MO. Her mom Karen also works at the clinic which sparked Makayla’s love for animals. She grew up within the walls of Jackson Animal Clinic visiting and coming to work with her mom in her childhood years. Makayla officially started working at the clinic in October of 2020. She has a minnie aussie with her fiance named Merle that loves to be out on the farm herding livestock. Makayla spends her free time with family and friends. She loves going to country concerts, being outdoors, watching sports and planning her upcoming wedding!

Kali has lived in Kansas City Missouri her whole life and currently is attending UMKC. She plans to transfer to a vet school in 2024 to pursue her dream job. Animals have always been a passion for Kali ever since she was a child. She has had many different pets over the years from fish to birds, horses, dogs, and cats. Any animal is cherished by her. In her free time, she spends it studying at coffee shops, taking care of her horses in Platte City, playing fetch with her dog Shelby, or cleaning her cherished MINI Clubman.

I-LEAN

I-Lean is the newest member of our family. She was brought to the clinic having head trauma so you may notice her walking off to the right side a bit. Dr. Jackson nursed her back to health and she is now full of spit and vinegar and ended up finding her forever home.

SERAFINA

Serafina is also one of our newest furry family members. She is generally found in the front reception area as well, looking for someone to pet her or just being her mischievous self and looking for any kind of trouble that she can get into.

SINGE

Singe has been a member of the family for several years now. She came to us from a house fire situation so you will notice that her ears look cropped because of this. You will most likely find her in our reception seating area waiting for someone to sit down so she can crawl in their lap, she does like being petted but only on her terms.

MOSSIE

Mossie has been a member of the family since October 2020. Karen, one of our receptionists, is her owner and has been bringing Mossie to work with her since she was just 10 weeks old. Mossie’s name came from the brand Mossy Oak because of her brindle coloring which gives her a camouflage look. Mossie loves to greet all of the clients as they come in and try to talk them out of a few treats. Her favorite time of day is nap time under mom’s desk and also when UPS and FedEx makes the deliveries and the drivers give her extra special treats.
